No. 04.ii · Galas & Benefits

Florals for the room that gives back.

Gala-scale design for nonprofit benefits, museum openings, and the cultural calendar.

No. 04.ii.03.i · The work

What the studio composes.

A gala is a room with a purpose. The flowers do not draw attention from the cause — they hold the room together so the cause can speak. We work alongside development teams, gala committees, and event producers to compose work that reads from the back of a five-hundred-seat ballroom and from the head table at once.

The studio composes at scale: long centerpiece runs, ceremony installations, stage florals, lectern arrangements, and the moments at the entry and the silent auction. The palette is built to complement the venue's existing architecture rather than fight it. The work breaks down quietly so the development team can stay with their guests.

We collaborate with nonprofit gala teams on multi-year programs — the same studio composing the spring benefit, the fall opening, and the winter holiday gala — so the visual identity carries across the year.

The work, by occasion.

Nonprofit galas, museum benefits, hospital and university foundations, symphony, opera, and ballet openings, charity auctions, political fundraisers, and awards ceremonies. The work is designed to give the room its mood without taking the spotlight from the mission.

How an engagement begins.

Step 01

The brief.

Begin with a phone call. We follow with a studio meeting or a venue walkthrough — whichever serves the work better. No proposal is written before we have spoken.

Step 02

The proposal.

A written composition — palette, vessels, installation plan, on-site scope, and itemized pricing. Revisions are part of the engagement. Nothing is locked until you say yes.

Step 03

The composition.

The studio composes by hand, installs on-site, and stays through the engagement. At the end of the night we break down quietly and leave the space as we found it.

Gala-scale work typically begins at $10,000. Multi-year programs are written with annual scope and renegotiated each season.

Frequently considered.

What does pricing start at for gala florals?

Full gala-scale floral design typically begins at $10,000 and scales with the room — number of tables, ceremony installation, stage, entry, and auxiliary moments. Multi-year programs are written with annual scope.

How far in advance should we book?

Gala bookings open six to twelve months in advance for the larger benefits, and we accept a limited number of gala engagements per quarter. Write us as soon as the date is held — the calendar fills early.

Do you work with our gala committee or producer?

Yes. We work alongside development teams, gala committees, agencies, and event producers. The proposal absorbs the broader team's directives — venue restrictions, sponsor florals, photographer requirements.

What is included — design, sourcing, install, breakdown?

Full-service: composition, sourcing, fabrication, on-site installation with a curated team, quiet end-of-night breakdown that does not disturb the closing of the event. Custom vessels and structural pieces are fabricated with our partners.

Do you travel outside Northern California?

Yes — gala work has traveled across California and to select cultural institutions further afield. Travel and a small on-site team per-diem are itemized in the proposal.

What happens at the consultation?

A phone or video call with the development lead and the gala chair, then a venue walkthrough. We discuss the room, the program, the auxiliary moments, the budget, and the visual identity. A written proposal follows within five business days.
